Michael- 114 is tough! Especially where it is 2 lanes. It is super cool that you worked at the Pewter Pot! I worked at a local restaurant that nobody really went to and that was owned by an ex Boston Bruin that nobody remembered..

Born in LYNN, raised in NORTH ANDOVER, moved around a lot since college, but I'm still from Boston.

3 - I stopped calling it tonic when I moved away. But I know what you mean.

4 - I thought I was pretty cool going to Canobie Lake Park and wearing my jelly bracelets.

7 - Yes

14 - Yes

20 - I don't drink coffee. But living in the South it's great fun to tell people that Iced Tea is NOT served all year round. Only in the summer, which is like June 15 to August 31.

38 - I still like using wicked for fun. And I tell people: Pisser is good; pisser is bad; but don't use it in front of my mother or she'll backhand ya.

46 - I was BORN in Lynn. We moved out to Nawth Andovah when I was seven. My mother caught a lot of grief from her sister-in-law about moving out to the country.

53 - All those places. Anybody ever go to Salem Willows? I did as a kid...

71 - Aaah! Zoom!

85 - I never really cared for Papa Gino's pizza.

87 - We used to get subs from Star Pizza in North Andover. There was more than one Star, so you had to be sure to call the good one. They used diced/cubed pickles - about a half inch per side - that were so good. I've never found them anywhere else.

93 - I remember driving through the Combat Zone with friends in High School, and squealing with horror and delight when a hooker said hi to us. Of course, we all came out as gay once we left for college.

95 - YES! My mother did this every morning trying to pull onto 114 in Middleton as she drove me to the Prep.

100 - I don't remember Grant's but I do the rest. How's this: My first job ever was at a PEWTER POT.

Loved the list! I've always held Boston on some silly pedestal. I'm not sure why considering I've never been there.

Bastids - FAVORITE! So phonetically correct!

Any town ending with "ford" is pronounced as "fid". Medfid is my favorite. Remember the Dunks commercial with Pedro? "This is how we do it in Medfid! Shake 'em off, shake 'em off, shake 'em, throw it!"
I also love "Wissta" and its neighbor, "Lessta".
Mrs. G, some woman's car just got capped with a bb gun because she honked at the driver. Do you talk with the current lingo at home? What does your shorty say about that?

You are so right about the bird. Nobody flips it anymore. I guess we're all too afraid someone will pull at a handgun and cap us-did you notice my current lingo there. I watch Law & Order, sister.

I thought #9 was a New York thing. Huh.

I think you're probably too young for #71 and too old for the new version they tried to launch a few years ago. I sing ALL the Boston zip codes to that tune since they all fit.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I DO say "lookit!" HAHAHAHA!

Okay, let's clear a couple of things up: #71 references the PBS show called Zoom. They let kids write in to make suggestions about what the group of middle schoolers on the show would do or investigate or build. "Send a SASE to Zoom, box 350, Boston Mass - OH, TWO ONE, THREE FOUR - Send it to ZOOM!" The zip code was sung, and we still sing it around the Chili household.

You never come out the way you went in! Bwahahaha!

I'm still pretty good at navigating the city, though they moved the exit to the Museum of Science off of Rt. 1, so I've got to pay attention if I come in to the city over the Tobin.

Remember Peabody? We had at LEAST six sub shops then, and that was before Subway.

I always love it when I ask a student (or anyone, really) where they're from and they say something like "Med-ford." Um. No - if you say "Medford" you're not from Medford. You're only from Medford if you call it "Med-fid." Neither is anyone from "PEA-body." It's Peebiddy. And they are all bastids.
